LOCAL government units (LGUs) from all over the country have submitted their requirements for The Manila Times Model Cities and Municipalities Awards 2025, with Ormoc, which joined and won a number of awards in previous editions, the first to provide documents as early as Sept. 9.
The awards, which began in 2017 as The Manila Times Top Model City, expanded to include municipalities in 2018. This year’s edition will culminate in the annual forum of The Manila Times Philippine Model Cities and Municipalities at The Manila Hotel on Nov. 14.
Luminaries in the fields of governance and finance will share their areas of expertise as well as touch points that affect the quality of urban living such as social responsibility, financial development and sustainable growth under the theme “Environmental communities cultivating first-world economies.”
Deliberations on the entries and choosing the winners were done at The Manila Hotel Apitong Function Room on Oct. 21.
The Manila Times CEO Anna Marie Ang-Thompson expressed gratitude for everyone involved in this noble cause.
“On behalf of The Manila Times, it is an honor to gather the stakeholders, the innovators and policymakers to celebrate and honor the remarkable cities and municipalities shaping a better future for the Philippines,” Ang-Thompson said.
